City Harvest
City Harvest is a leader in the US “food rescue movement” and New York City’s largest food rescue organization, helping to feed millions of New Yorkers who are struggling to make ends meet. Their mission is to “end hunger in New York City.” They estimate that 35% of the food produced in the U.S. goes unsold or uneaten every year.
In 2023, City Harvest will rescue 75 million pounds of safe, edible food and deliver it, free of charge, to hundreds of food pantries, soup kitchens and other community partners across the five boroughs of NYC. They also work with other local organizations to boost community capacity, expand nutrition education and strengthen local food systems.
