Espacio de Encuentro Saludable

Espacio de Encuentro Saludable (Healthy Meeting Space) is an urban art lab that is redefining the meaning of recycling and reuse. The project works with community artists to artistically transform items such as simple food containers, hygiene products and many other prepackaged consumer goods that are routinely thrown in the trash as solid waste because they are considered single use.

Using art as a form of recycling, artists deploy colors, art materials and artisanal creation to transform throw away objects into prized possessions in previously unthinkable ways, expanding popular understanding of art, utility, recycling and beauty in the process.

The project is an ongoing rebuke and counter example to the use and discard logic of modern consumer society, opening new possibilities that have the potential to redefine recycling and market value propositions.
